The Maritime Leadership Camp is an annual initiative that was launched in 2019 and has been supported by JCJ every year since 2020.
The camp is organised by The Floating School Indonesia, a non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering Indonesian youth, particularly those residing in coastal and island regions, to become future leaders committed to the sustainability of marine ecosystems. Currently, the organisation operates in Makassar and Aceh.
The annual camp comprises a virtual theory component and an in-person segment, which takes place at Lowita Beach in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Each year, the camp adopts a different theme and hosts approximately 30 youth participants. The program aims to educate the young people about Indonesia’s maritime history, engage them in marine conservation efforts, and involve them in activities such as beach clean-ups, mangrove plantings, and eco-bricks workshops.
